Armas Museum

It started in Rio Grande do Sul, in the 10s, precisely in Porto Alegre, with the Italian immigrant Giaccomo ZATTI, which then had a small business. Giaccomo goods exchanged for weapons and collected them. After some time passed the collection to his son, Pedro Arlindo ZATTI. The first gun that was received from this brand SMITH WESSON a revolver, 32 caliber and retrocarga, when he was just 13 (thirteen) years of age. Arlindo was thrilled with the collection entrusted to him and gave him continuity. He also became a great hunter of wild animals such as leopards, wild boars, snakes and alligators. In the trade from his father, he exposed his arms. Once assembled the collection in his apartment and opened to the public, having been distinguished authorities of our country, among which the former president Castelo Branco. In the late 70's, Mr. Pedro Arlindo Zatti, no longer having to care for the collection, sold it to the Federal District, during the administration of Governor Hélio Prates, establishing a condition that the collection should be exhibited to the public of capital, since his main goal was to publicize the history of the pieces acquired with great effort during his 50 years in government vida.Somente Jose Ornelas, in 1983 the collection was called the Museum.
The museum was first assembled in the Palace of Buriti then at the Academy of Military Firefighter of the DF and subsequently at the Institute of History and Geography of the DF, which was closed for some time, looking for who could take his guard.

The Civil Police Federal District, through Dr. Valdemar Gomes Ribeiro, showed interest in acquiring the collection, which was made soon after. In June 1991, the museum was transferred to the Civilian Police Academy, where he was precariously housed. Funds raised through the commitment of police officers, and support of associations and AGEPOL ADEPOL, Taurus and Company of Brazil, allowed the suitability of a large room in the PCA, which was inaugurated on December 18, 1994, in order to permanently maintain exhibition in the Museum's collection of Arms, which was expanded from 1,365 to almost 2,000 pieces, with lots of types and manufacture of various countries. Some have great historical and cultural value, having belonged to illustrious personages such as Duque de Caxias, Ex-President Getulio Vargas, D. Pedro II, General José Antonio Flores da Cunha, Luiz Osorio Marshal, etc..
