If you are a Canadian Citizen, you will need a tourist visa prior to visitng Brazil. If you are in Canada, this can be easily done by mail. You do not have to go to the consulate in person. If you are in any other country, however, you will need to visit a Brazilian consulate in order to obtain a visitor visa.

Please, plan in advance! Do not let it for the last minute. Make sure you apply for your visa at least 1 month before your trip. Usually, you will get a visa that is valid for 4 or 5 years.

  • You will need to fill in a form online, print the protocol document issued after filling out the online form. Please sign the protocol document in the appropriate space and glue a photograph (passport size). Please note that the protocol is valid for 1 month (after this period a new application must be made).

  • You will also need  a photocopy of round trip ticket to Brazil or ticket in transit, with flight numbers, dates and itinerary. Instead of a ticket, the Brazilian  Embassy in Canada will also accept a signed letter from the carrier or travel agent, on company letterhead, with the name of the vessel (in case of ships), itinerary, dates of arrival in and departure from Brazil.

  • All applicants must present proof of earnings (letter of employer or statement of earnings). In case of self employed, student or unemployed, a statement of earnings or a copy of last year’s income tax from spouse or parents is acceptable. For retired, any proof of income can be presented (e.g. pension, rental,…), or a copy of last year’s income tax.

  • Pay the visa fee using a certified cheque or money order payable to the Embassy or Consulate you are sending your application to. All embassies and consulates of Brazil in Canada are listed bellow.

  • You can apply in person, using a thrid party (usually agencies), or by mail. If you apply using a third party or by mailm there is a handling fee. The visa fee for Canadians usually costs about 80 Canadian dollars, and the handling fee costs 25 Canadian dollars.
