Pedal ao Morro do Canal Piraquara
A formation with a little over 1000m altitude, Piraquara is located in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, near the headwaters of the Sierra. It is a place of easy access by bike or car. The region is full of country roads and landscapes along the route. It's a gentle ride that lasts a little over 1 hour to the farm of Mr. (Seu) Zezinho, which begins the trail. The accent is peaceful and easy going. Anyone with the minimum preparation won't have any problems. The place is well frequented, so you'll see several people who have already made it to the top. Many of them are couples with children. You'll reach the highest point in about 45 minutes. You'll see mountains all around and even part of the coast.
GETTING THERE: Follow the BR 277 towards the coast of PR. Just before the toll plaza, you will find a police station on the right. After this post, about 300m on the left, you will find the beginning of the dirt road. Just turn before the toll and enter the driveway. From there, always follow the main road. After a few km, you will find a "T." Turn right. A little bit ahead you will take a left. On a tree beside the road you will see a sign for Finca Santa Barbara. Follow the sign. After a few minutes you will find a similar sign. Take the left. From there go through two steep climbs, and just after the second hill you'll see a fork with a large tree in the center. Take a right. After this point, just follow the road directly to the farm of Mr. Dewey. There is a parking fee to help preserve the site.
