Lago Azul Park
The Blue Lake Park entrance is marked by a portal, which allows cars access to the parking lot and includes accomodations for the disabled and elderly. The park has many attractions, including volleyball and football courts, a water play area for children, many barbecue pits for those wishing to have a picnic, and a wood gazebo which is at the highest point of the park and provides an overview of the lake. Access to the gazebo is via a trail in the woods, which includes a paved sidewalk of interlocking concrete blocks.
Lago Azul Park has roughly 128,500 square meters of land and was originally part of the Segalla family and was part of a private park during the 1960's and 1970's. Over time it was neglected and the city of Curitiba acuired the land and turned it into a public park in 2007.
Lago Azul Parque is on the outskirts of Curitiba, and not an inner city park like many of the parks of Curitiba. The park is near to the Iguaçu Park Zoo, but still roughly 6km away, and even further from any other major parks. The next closest park would be Bosque Reinhard Maack and it is roughly 10km away.
