Ironman Brazil

The Ironman Brazil is the largest triathlon race in Latin America. Are 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling and 42 km run. The national phase of the Ironman is the only Latin American qualifying for the World Ironman in Hawaii.

Conceived by U.S. Marines John Collins, Ironman emerged in Hawaii in 1978 and was attended by 15 super athletes, of which only 12 finished the race. Comprising of a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling and 42 km run, ended up being defined as a proof of overcoming limits and much persistence.

The Ironman involves moving people from different countries, either through the organization of evidence or the participation of athletes. There are 26 selective distributed throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Americas who define 1500 competitors for the final in Hawaii. The final, moreover, attracts about 30,000 visitors to the island of Kona, confirming the strength of the event.

In Brazil, the triathlon has been practiced since 1982 and currently has about 15,000 athletes participating actively. Since 2001, under the organization's Latin Sports, the event has grown so giddy.

Currently, the event has reached the technical limit of 1,850 athletes and, by its magnitude, is increasingly attracting investment, providing an important contribution to the world of sport in Brazil.

Organized since 2001, some changes were made and very well accepted by sponsors and athletes, as the venue, leaving Porto Seguro (BA) to Florianopolis (SC). The race has grown exponentially, from about 250 competitors in 2000 to 1,550 in 2009, reaching the limit of participants for the event since 2005. Moreover, the strengthening of proof on the international circuit can be proved by the fact that most of the competitors come from abroad.
