Farol Beach

The beach is actually very small, roughly 100 meters long, with water that is fairly rough and unsuitable for bathing but is great for surfers, who are attracted to the area.   There is also a lighthouse here, hence the Portuguese name Farol Beach meaning lighthouse beach.  The lighthouse is now decommissioned, but it gives you an idea of what the waters are like around here.

The water here is considered polluted and not recommended for swimming, besides the fact that it is rough.  Crowds of young people come here on the weekends with their boards, ready to enjoy the waves.  There are many kiosks in the area selling food and cold beverages, so there is need to worry about feeling hungry here.   Finally, this beach borders the Futuro Beach, which could be considered a continuation of Farol Beach.
