Imagem e do Som Museum
Museum of Image and Sound in Fortaleza was officially opened in 1980, inside the Menezes Pimentel Public State Library, now part of the Department of Culture's Audiovisual Secretariat.
In addition to the sober and harmonious architecture, with gardens and flowers, the house has the protection of two porcelain lions from the city of Porto, Portugal. Dating back to the early XX century, these pieces are the hallmark of this historic building that now houses the MIS.
The Fortaleza Museu da Imagem e do Som works with the cataloging of material about Fortaleza, arts, crafts, festivals, amusements, history, literature, work music, landscapes, personalities and Ceará characteristic types, religion and music.
The collection includes over 60,000 pieces, with negatives, photographs, slides, wax records and tapes, and also a small library, with 1,600 of string. Searching is done through the database at headquarters or on the internet site of the Department of Culture of Ceará (SECULT). MIS has a specialized library (in the process of reorganization), multimedia screening room and exhibition spaces.

A private school in Ceará built the Teatro Arena Aldeota, in 1988. The theater, privately owned, has a capacity of over 400 people and is today one of the only theaters with arena shape throughout the state.
