Sao Goncalo do Amarante Botanical Garden

Besides the various green areas of Fortaleza, commonly frequented by locals, as the Ecological Park of Rio Coco, Fortaleza also has a botanical garden, in São Gonçalo do Amarante, 45 km from the center.

The area of ​​19.8 hectares is a project of landscaped architect Ricardo Marinho, a disciple of Burle Marx.

At the entrance of the Garden is the administration building with an auditorium, a library, gallery, information center and outpatient clinic and a small shop for sale of publications and souvenirs. Along the way four squares were designed with benches, pergolas and gardens, water fountains and information panels and four areas for rest.

The site is bucolic, ideal for outdoor concerts and theatrical performances. The composition of the atmosphere, palm trees and cactus vegetation of cerrado, restinga and caatinga, bromeliads, orchids and ferns, and gardens of fragrance and medicinal plants, lacking flowers, sculptures and squares for the visitor to get to the four winds.

Location and access:

Far 56km from Fortaleza is located on the banks of the EC-022 Highway in the town of Pecem. The access roads are the EC-423 and BR-222.
