Fortaleza is known for having a large diversity of handcrafted products.  The workmanship is often amazing, and the prices for pieces that take days to create are unbelievable. 

There are several large markets in the city which offer space to local artists and small businesses which specialize in locally made products.  

Two of the more popular and larger markets, include the Mercado Central, a four story building containing many stores with many competitively priced goods and Feirinha da Beira-Mar, another large establishment with many kiosks and stalls selling ethnic foods and products.
