Cobra Veiga Park

A center dedicated to the production of toxins, focusing on projects in education, culture, ecological knowledge and conservation of snakes is the proposal of Cobra snake Veiga Research Center, developed in the park of the same name. There, in a preserved area of forty-four thousand square meters there are seven hundred and fifty different species of snakes.
The Cobra Veiga was founded in January 1993 and authorized by the Brazilian Institute of Environment to promote the creation and marketing of snake meat, skin and poison. These animals are housed in pens and objects for demonstrations of various lectures and courses taught on site. To complete the structure also has laboratory and animal facilities (nursery guinea pigs) with rodents.
The work is justified if one recalls that the venoms of snakes are used in the composition of many drugs on the market, including the preparation of the antivenom itself, essential in combating the bites of snakes.
