Jacumã Beach
Located along the north coast, roughly 33 km from downtown Natal, this beach is surrounded by reefs that transform it into a cove where the waves from the ocean are blocked, creating calm waters that are great for bathing and swimming in. On the beach is the restaurant Naf-Naf which serves up seafood and views of the ocean.
The biggest attraction to Jacumã Beach is the Jacumã Lagoon, which is a stop along the route of the buggy tours. There are two famous activities here, the "aerobunda" and "skybunda". Aerobunda, has zip lines which allow tourists and locals to be zipped down the side of a dune, skim across the lagoon, and finally land with their bunda in the lagoon. Skybunda is similar, but done on a wooden board which allows a person to descend the dunes ending in the lagoon on their bunda's as well.
To ascend the dunes, locales invented their own cable car, which is a chair system pulled by a steel cable that slides on rails. The engine that drives the cable car is an old VW that has had it's wheels removed and replaced with a pulley system. An ingenious system which works and is fun to watch.
To the north of Jacumã Beach, are the beaches of Porto Mirim and Muriú Beach which have plenty of coconut trees, and offer beachfront kiosks selling various seafood dishes. On the beach of Porto Mirim, the Miramar Restaurant offers a nice restaurant on the water. Roughly 500 meters from the coast, there are reefs that form natural pools at low tide. The inhabitants of Jacumã beach, Porto Mirim Beach and Muriú Beach all go out to these pools, which are also called the "Hole Vein" and the "Eye of the Girl."
