Vilarte Artesanato
This is one of the best place to buy hand made crafts in Natal, with many typical traditional and cultural pieces available. Vilarte is located on Avenida Roberto Freire, which is close to many good restaurants such as Samoa, and Cameroon, and also very near several hotels in Ponta Negra, adjacent to the Granada Flat. Vilarte is also only a few meters away from the Handicrafts Market in Ponta Negra, which makes it an ideal place to go through several different markets in a single afternoon, looking for that perfect gift.
The site has no parking, but there is a nearby public square with plenty of space, which is also a meeting point for many tour operators offering city tours. If you were interested in taking a tour, this is a great place to do a bit of shopping before or after the tour. Vilarte offers a slightly better infrastructure than many of the other markets, without really increasing prices.
The Vilarte market has approximately thirty craft shops, offering works of clay, wood, fabric, and glass. Apart from the shops, it offers services such as a Bank of Brazil ATM, a travel agency, internet access, several cafes and restaurants and a place outdoors where you can get a good view of Bald Hill.
Some of the more traditional pieces, include a pestle for the famous caipirinha drink, and the chickens of luck which according to legend, the combination of mother hen and three chicks can turn desire into reality. Lots of wood work, stones and gems and regional sculptures.
