Surfing - Praia do Amor - Pipa - RN - Brazil

There are many beaches that have good surfing within and around Natal.  The most popular urban beach in Natal is Ponta Negra, which attracts surfers of all levels due to its large and well formed waves.   Artists Beach is in the central region of Natal and sought after by surfers at high tide when the waves are larger and the depths of the ocean greater.   Then there is Pipa Beach which is 90 km from Natal, yet still attracts a strong surfer following.  

 

Discovered by surfers 80 years ago, Pipa is now considered one of the best surfing points in Brazil, which attracts surfers from all over Brazil.  With waves averaging 2 to 7 feet, Pipa Beach has several access points where surfers generally like to go.

 

Lajão has access to the main beach and is a favorite for locals as it has the longest waves. With deep coral, it is only for experts.
Wave Size: 3-7 feet
Best Waves: Low tide or changing tide
Characteristic of the Waves: Right to pipe section and maneuvers, this is the longest wave of Pipa
Deep Reefs

Wave Size: 2 to 6 feet
Best Waves: Morning low tide and when there is no wind
Characteristic of the Waves: Right, Short and Tubular
Very Shallow Reefs

Love Beach (or Afogados), one of the most frequented and most preferred by surfers, it has excellent waves for maneuvers and is also the venue of all the championships of Pipa.
Wave Size: 2 to 4 feet.
Best Waves: High tide, with or without wind.
Characteristic of the Waves: Right or Left, Short and Good to maneuver.
Beach Breakers

Dolphin Bay allows surfers to surf amount the many dolphins in the bay.  Also great for learning since it has a sandy bottom.
Wave Size: 2 to 4 feet.
Best Waves: Low tide, or changing tide
Characteristic of the Waves - Right and Left wave ideal for beginners.
Beach Breakers

Madeiro Situated on the beach of Madeira, with large waves, the presence of dolphins and good looks.
Wave Size: 2 to 5 feet.
Best Waves: Low tide, or changing tide
Characteristic of the Waves: Right and extensive
Beach Breakers and Reefs

Sororoca
Wave Size: 3 to 6 feet.
Best Waves: Low tide with no wind.
Characteristic of the Waves: Right training rare meeting with ripples forming a single short peak and Tubular located between the tip of the avocado and the beach drowned.

Avocado
Wave Size: 3 to 6 feet.
Best Waves: Low tide when it starts to change with no wind. low tide with no wind.
Characteristic of the Waves: Right-section of tube and Tricks
