Barigui Park is one of the largest and most visited parks in Curitiba. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the park is one of the main meeting places of the city. Even during the week it is full of people and tourists simply walking around the lake or using one of the other many amenities available.

The park has some gym equipment, barbecue pits, restaurants, courts for sports use, many kiosks selling their wares, an automobile museum, a steam train station, and even an amusement park. Locals also use a BMX track and fly model airplanes in the park.

The park offers lots of green areas, with native forest flora surrounding a large lake of 400 thousand square meters. This region of Curitiba has over 200 species of birds and it is possible to find many of them in the park. Some of the more interesting birds include the pavós, a large bird breast red, and the purple-breasted parrot which is threatened with extinction. It is also has capybaras, herons, egrets, skunks, tico-ticos, geese, and many other wild animals.

After walking around the park, it's possible to walk over the Santa Felicidade neighbourhood where some of the first Italian immigrants moved to.  The walk takes about 20 minutes and the buildings and area surrounding this neighbourhood are wonderulf to see while on foot.     It is also possible to head over to the Mercês Tower, where it's possible to get a full 360 degree view of the city.   Both points of interest are near by and within walking distance.

As a tourist, it's possible to book a helicopter tour as well that takes off right from the park. Many tourists travel to Curitiba using this heliport as well. Barigui Paruqe has an area of 1.4 million square meters, which was part of the land grant given to the settler Captain Matthew Helm. It was turned into a park in 1972, with the help of architect Lubomir Ficinski. The Municipal Department of Environment is also located on the park grounds.

Barigui has an indigenous origin which roughly translate to "River of the prickly fruit" which refers to the pine cones that fall from the many pine trees that are within the park.

Location: Suburbs Champagnat and Waterfall between the BR-277 and ave. Manoel Ribas. The park is cut in av. Candido Hartmann. Is included in the script line tourism done by double-decker bus departing from the Praça Tiradentes, in Curitiba.
