As the main city square, with stores, restaurants, a movie theater and plenty of benches it is the "heart" of Fortaleza. It has been the main meeting point of the capital, the scene of literary "Spiritual Bakery" in 1892. Recently passed a reform which added a new column clock and gardens in a reconstitution of the original architecture.
In Ferreira square, formed themselves into big business and big events of Fortaleza society and culture during the late nineteenth century until the mid twentieth century when the city went through an urban expansion and the creation of other centers of development.
Since 2001, after popular search, the square was officially declared a Historical Landmark and Heritage of Fortaleza.
