Coqueiros (coconuts) neighborhood is located in the continental part of the city to the south. It is the place for those who like to snack and have a pleasant scenery as accompaniment.  The place is busy, served by many bars and restaurants and decorated by some palm trees that are left after the human occupation of the site. Proximity to urban center has deteriorated increasingly both the sea and the sand, now grounded by the amount of cars that park on it. However, the view on the beach is privileged:  it includes the mainland and the island of Florianopolis.

Coqueiros is frequented by those who enjoy walking while admiring the rising or setting of the sun, in the 350 meters yellow track of sand stretching along the beach. Bathing in this water isn't recommended due to the pollution, which is attributed to the drainage system in the region.
