Tapera Beach
Description: Tapera Beach

This beach is a traditional fishing colony, south of the island. On weekends it changes completely, upon receiving the population that resides in the center of Florianopolis. Currently there are already permanent residents from the city center.

The Tapera beach is calm, like a pond. From its margin it is possible to see the Fora Beach and Sonho beach, resorts on the continent and belonging to the municipality of Palhoça. Tapera beach is a great option for those with children as it has got a very calm sea more like a pool and a beautiful place to enjoy the sunset drinking a caipirinha by the sea.

In Tapera was found an extensive archaeological site, which was thoroughly explored in 1962 and 1967, collecting shells, charcoal, polished axes, beaters, grinders, and 172 burials. This archaeological collection was deposited in the Homem do Sambaqui Museum in Florianopolis.

The beach is, currently, a great point of cultivating oysters and clams.
