The Jardim Zoológico de Curitiba - Parque Iguaçú is located in the south of the city, and has animals from all parts of the world fauna, a total number greater than 1000 animals. Among the few we can mention: tigers, lions, otters, chimps, giraffes, camels, zebras, hippos, camels, and cranes, among various other species, all preserved in an environment close to their natural habitat.
The zoo is part of the Regional Park Iguaçu, the largest urban park in Brazil with 569 million square feet and was opened in 1976. The park is crossed by the Rio Iguaçu one of the main rivers of the Parana.
