Piratini Palace
The Piratini Palace is the current seat of state government of Rio Grande do Sul Although his first construction plan was launched in 1894, the space was never officially opened, since changes in architectural projects were responsible for countless adaptations of the works were taken up throughout the twentieth century. The Porto Alegre government, however, occupies the building since 1921. The project followed the construction of the palace is the Frenchman Maurice Gras, who envisioned a neoclassical influenced architecture, inspired by the Petit Trainon in Versailles. At the main entrance, there are three sculptures by artist Paul Landowski representing agriculture, industry and spring. In the main hall, a sumptuous marble staircase leads to the governor's office, where, among other rarities, there is a phone and a gold plated 42 square meters of carpet, dated 1930. In the halls of the Negrinho do Pastoreio and Alberto Pasqualini, the French influence remains, as the chandeliers are replicas of the Palace of Versailles. Murals of the Italian painter Aldo Locatelli illustrate episodes in the history of Rio Grande do Sul, while part of the furniture was manufactured by inmates of the old House of Correction in Porto Alegre and the sills and baseboards were carved from Carrara marble. In the gardens there is a fountain with Egyptian themes and a sculpture of the Little Black Grazing made ​​by Vasco Prado. On the outside, there is the Creole Shed, where visitors are greeted with demonstrations of cooking and traditional gaucho culture.
