Jaboatão saves in its history the Dutch resistance against the boss battles during the years 1648 and 1649, in Montes Guararapes - the cradle of Brazilian nationality - today, the National Park of Montes Guararapes - and the marks of his victory with the expulsion of invaders. For hosting the main battles against the Dutch in the then province of Pernambuco, the city proclaims itself as the cradle of the motherland.

Jaboatão Guararapes was the scene of battles against the Dutch in the XVIII century. The history of Brazil can be seen on the streets and sidewalks of the city. In Guararapes Historical Park are stitched the memory of the War of Restoration Pernambuco (1648/1649), staged every year in Monte Guararapes.

With 363 hectares, the park consists of three hills: oiti tree, Telegraph and Horseshoe. From the park you can enjoy the view of the city and Jaboatao dos Guararapes in Recife. On the site is still one of the most important and coveted the State Churches: Igraja Our Lady of Pleasure (known as the Church of the Montes Guararapes). Montes Guararapes are administered by the National Trust (Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage) and the Army, with support from the City. There exists a beautiful viewpoint and a cultural area, with models and panels depicting the battles.
