Ipojuca
Pojuca is a municipality in the state of Pernambuco, formed by the district headquarters, districts Camela, O Our Lady of the villages and beaches of Porto de Galinhas, Muro Alto, Cupe Maracaípe Serrambi, Touquinho, Suape and their mills.
The colonization of Ipojuca began in 1560, after the expulsion of Caetés Indians and other tribes of the south coast of Pernambuco. From there, the settlers could migrate to the fertile land and rich black clay Ipojuca, these lands are very favorable for the cultivation of sugar cane, which caused a rapid emergence of several mills in the region. Among the pioneers were the families Lacerda, Cavalcanti, and Rolim Moura.
When the Dutch invaded Pernambuco, had already established several mills in the region. This site participated in the Dutch resistance, under the leadership of Captain General Amador de Araujo, in a fight initiated on July 17, 1645. The Dutch defeat came in July 23, 1645.
Thus Ipojuca established itself as one of the most important regions of the Colonial System. With two ports - Port of Suape and chickens - and the largest floodplain in the Northeast of black clay, Ipojuca triangular part of the colonial trade; Chicken got its name because it was so meant to be slaves arrived from Africa in that period.
Ipojuca The district was created by municipal law No. 02, November 12, 1895. The village came with headquarters in the town of Our Lady of the O and then was transferred to the village of San Miguel de Ipojuca.
With the state's Decree No. 23 dated October 4, 1890, the building was restored in Nossa Senhora do Ó. There are many controversies about the founding date of Ipojuca, but the second would be a vicar of the parish in the year 1596.
The origin of its name comes from the Tupi Guarani Iapajuque, meaning dark water.

To get there you must go buggy up to a certain point and then continue on foot. Muro Alto is about four miles and was named on account of the existing sand banks along the entire beach.
