Festival of Cribs
An interesting nativity festival takes place in December. In the Garden of Allah, a park between Ipanema and Leblon are the various participants and cribs and also some ornaments such as sleds, home of Santa Claus, Scenes and Christmas Decoration.
The Festival of Cribs was considered by the public and the media the best street art event in Rio de Janeiro in recent times. Was also considered as the largest exhibition of art full size cribs in the open world (verification request accepted by Guinness World Records in the administrative process of the conference), with unique works produced by artists selected by Brazilian curator of the exhibition, from national public call for registration of projects.
Festival of Cribs
A large exhibition of nativity scenes, dels many larger than human scale, is authored by artists, designers, set designers, and artists popular carnival authors.
The cribs are displayed in various parts of the city, becoming one of the attractions that move to Rio de Janeiro over Christmas, and this may be the largest art gallery to open Christmas in the world.
Participants compete for a prize, and the design contest winner gets a money prize. The winner is chosen by popular vote.
Many cribs are exposed in the Garden of Allah, a leafy plaza and park bordering a canal that connects the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, standing squarely on the border between the districts of Ipanema and Leblon.
The visit is during day or night when the cribs are illuminated, providing effects or giving a somewhat different from that seen during the day.
