Fundacao Museu da Tecnologia de Sao Paulo
The Centre of Contemporary Technology - CAT, Technology Museum Foundation of São Paulo is a large space with modern facilities. Its aim is to preserve the heritage of technology, historical and cultural education and culture to enable the society, the technological understanding of the phenomenon and its rapid and constant change, showing the path of technology in different segments. To meet its goal restores and maintains machinery, apparatus, instruments and equipment past and present; gathers and displays documents and parts of collections, real and virtual in various technology segments, promotes, supports and conducts research studies and projects in various areas of technology, hosts, organizes and promotes exhibitions, shows and other events; releases new products, processes and inventions; supports the process of technological innovation and encourages and values the inventive activity, especially in young people.
The visits to the collection are free. All the assets of the Foundation is restored and in perfect working condition, allowing visitors to interact with several of his plays. It offersf guided visits to the collection. The visitor knows the collection and a brief history of the Museum of Technology Foundation and the Center for Contemporary Technology - CCT. With a duration of one hour visitors can learn a little history of each piece.
In the multimedia room with 20 computers, the visitor accesses the museological project, Virtual Museum and Gallery of Inventors in the intranet of the CCT.
The Museum Centre Project contains data, images and information about the technology used in Brazil and in several regions of the world, at different times. Additionally, it provides data and images of the key museums and technology centers in the world allowing direct access to their sites. Inventors in the Project Gallery is presented in a timeline of the great inventions that changed the course of history and humanity's path.
Visit to the Diorama iron / Forging
Built and weatherise with original pieces of a blacksmith who worked until the beginning of last century in a city in São Paulo State, the Diorama, faithfully represents a workshop of the late nineteenth century. In this space, on special occasions, a blacksmith demonstrates and produces handmade pieces and iron utensils.
Located in a privileged area on the banks of the Pinheiros River, between the bridges Jaguaré and University City in an area adjacent to University City-USP, the Centre of Contemporary Technology - CCT is installed on the Engineer Billings Avenue, corner of Avenue Polytechnic.
