Parque Chico Mendes in São Paulo

The park takes its name from Francisco Mendes Filho (Chico Mendes), a rubber tapper, unionist and an environmentalist, always committed in the cause in favor of nature. A concrete expression of this concern is the Parque Chico Mendes, a space of more than 50 square meters of vegetation, located in one of the poorest areas of green in the city of São Paulo.

The site has springs that feed a stream dammed to form an artificial lake, and bicycle, trails and sports courts. Animals such as the owl from the woods, the hawk-half Indian, the orange-thrush, the clay-john Cambaceres and can be observed daily in place.

The natural wetland originated from springs that form the waterway is home to guinea pigs and chickens waterline. Tilapia, marmosets-tufted black-and poultry such as ducks, geese and ducks.

The park takes its name from Francisco Mendes Filho - Chico Mendes - tapper, unionist and environmentalist.
