Distant only 12 km from Ouro Preto (11953), Mariana, called the "cradle of Minas Gerais civilization" was the 1st capital, the 1st village, the 1st bishopric and the first city in Minas Gerais. Today is the guardian of an important part of cultural heritage and history of Minas Gerais.
