Curitiba to Morretes by bike and train
The BWT Operadora has a package that combines cycling and Parana state history. For those seeking an adventure and some excitement, this cycling and train tour takes you through the historic town of Morretes first, using a combination of train and bicycle. The route takes you through striking landscapes, past historic houses and churches, all the while having the history and story of this town, founded in 1733, retold.
The two-day program - set up for those who do not have much time and would use the weekend to relax - promises to scare away the cold breeze this time of year, at first offering a train ride through the Serra do Mar of Paraná, Curitiba, Morretes, the company's Atlantic Forest and all its diversity of fauna and flora. A parade of cliffs that provide a mix of "butterflies," one being in St. John Bridge, which provides a panoramic view of mountains. On arrival at Morretes, the adrenaline is already high after so much excitement on board the tourist train. It has a planned stop for lunch and tour of the historic center of Morretes - to then start the most expected stretch: the visitation of seven villages, all on two wheels.
The bikes come into play from that point on. There are 32 miles of trails (only on the first day), a roadmap with rivers, waterfalls and a suspension bridge. After so much effort and energy burned, it is time to rest, after all, you have to save some energy for the second day. That's right. This was just the first day's activities. As a reward, a large dinner and well-deserved rest. The next day, over 12 km of cycling and walking 30 minutes to reach the Salto D'Tombo, a waterfall with 30 meters to cool off and regain energy for the return. You can rest assured that the way back is by train. There is also a scheduled tasting of traditional Barreado, a typical dish of the north coast of Parana. Barreado consists of meat, rice, banana, cassava flour and bacon to conquers the most demanding palates. There is also a wide selection of seafood.
