The Feast of the Divine
The "Festa do Divino" in Pirenópolis 12066 is the most significant of all festivals of its kind in Brazil.
Twelve days of celebration in the popular manifestation of the most important city. The feast of the Holy Spirit, celebrated in Pirenópolis since 1819, brings together bands parades, fireworks, congas, dances and other events.
The Emperor is primarily responsible for the preparation and holding of the festivities. Traditionally, it is he who bears most of the expenses of the Party, although it does with the help of authorities, his family and local community members, since his prestige emanates precisely from his ability to "accumulate to redistribute," tangible or intangible goods , volunteer work or food for the food preparation, for example.

Between Easter and the Novena, the Emperor holds several events in his home (which thus becomes a place of celebration), many related to the "Cavalhadas" (Joust) and the revelries.
The House of the Emperor belongs to the devotees of the Divine, which must be served in abundance at any time. For this reason, the cusine of the House of Emperor, led by his wife - moved by donations, volunteer work and paid work - never rests. It uninterruptedly provides meals, grocery stores, cafes, cakes and pastries.
Designed to be a representative of the Portuguese Royal Family and Court, its function is to distribute food to the population and make the symbolic release of prisoners in the city (an act that once happened in real life).
Among the most important moments of the festival is the procession of the Divine, when the Emperor, accompanied by the "virgins", and popular music bands, goes to church to accompany the drawing of his successor.
After the Mass, the Emperor returns home and delivers "Verônicas de Alfenim" and "Buns of the Divine", typical foods of the feast, to all the virgins.
The mandala, a symbol of the Divine, represents the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles (Pentecost), while the white dove, the color of peace, means the Holy Spirit.
The "Festa do Divino" is a movable feast that takes place 50 days after Easter, in celebration of Pentecost. Usually the date falls in May or June.
