Café Filho Museum
The building that houses the Café Filho Museum was built between 1816 and 1820 by José Alexandre de Melo and was the first privately owned two-story construction in Natal.
Called Sobradinho and also Véu da Noiva, (Bridal Veil), due to its steeply sloping roof, was a residence until the beginning of this century, becoming the headquarters of the Workers Union and the Music Band. Acquired by the state government in 1960, it was listed and restored by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage, and housed the Museum of Art and History of Rio Grande do Norte, from 1965 to 1978.
From March 12, 1979 on it hosts the Café Filho House Museum, justifying its historical relationship with the patron. In this house, Café Filho made political activism, created and led, by two years, the Workers Union.
The museum has a collection of documents and iconographic on Rio Grande do Norte President Café Filho, including biographical aspects and information about political life, with a record of his travels and pictures of their campaigns.
The museum also has the former president's private library and part of the furniture from his residence, coming from Rio de Janeiro
