Centro Cultural Casa da Ribeira

Witness to many events through the last century, this house began as a modest inn in 1911. Older residents tell stories of sailors, vendors and bohemian that would come to sleep on the first floor after the pubs in Chile Street (11860) and nearby alleys were closed. 

Founded in March 2001, Casa da Ribeira is now a cultural center located in the district of Ribeira, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city and now part of the Historic Center of Natal.  The Centro Cultural Casa da Ribeira is designed to host the diverse of socio-cultural and artistic events.  Now outfitted with a theater with 164 seats, an art room and a coffeehouse/living room which brings together artists and audiences at premieres, celebrations, soirees, and book launches.  An interesting and old historic artifact of Natal.
