One of the most well known beaches in the city, Ponta Negra is in an area that is frequented by tourists due to the great hotels, and restaurants available to them.  One of the most famous post cards of the city is taken from this area, the famous Morro do Careca.   Ponta Negra has an excellent infrastructure of high end hotels, and restaurants, besides being the stage of several night time parties.  There is a walk way that runs along most of the beach and is often used by locals and tourists as a place to walk and chat with friends.

Ponta Negra beach itself is about 4 km long, making it a large beach, but also a nice place to walk and get some exercises.  To the extreme south, is Bald Hill, the most famous tourist spot in Natal. While it's restricted from walking on the hill, many still do.  For environmental reasons they ask that you stay off the hill.  Walking north, you will find the area is full of bars, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, galleries and a multitude of shopping choices.
