With the closure of cinemas in several districts of Recife, many people lost a cultural fun option. Many of these cinemas have been demolished or are in ruins. A different fate had the Cine-Atlantic, the District of Pina.

After the disabled space was purchased by the City to the group Luiz Severiano Ribeiro, in 1985. And with the work of architect Erick Permann, the old movie theater transformed into the Junior Baker, with its preserved original facade. Only from October 1985 started the works of restoration and construction of Baker Junior. And finally, on December 30 that year, the first theater in the South Zone of the City was given to population, with the staging of esptáculo Bash, the only Mamulengo-Riso. So nearly fulfill the dream of the old actor Jose do Rego Barreto Júnior; to have a theater in Boa Viagem.
