Carneiros Beach
The beach is near the mouth of river Formoso, which throws its dark water into the Ocean and which also has very favorable conditions for the growth of mangroves in the region. Carneiros Beach means "Beach of the Sheep" in Portuguese, and while the name isn't very attractive, the beach often competes for title of the most beautiful beach in the state.
The wild landscape is almost unchanged since the beginning of the century, and is one of the key features of this beach which makes it so attractive. The estuary here is interesting, beautiful and somewhat rare as well. The waters spill from the river into the ocean and pass over a wall of reefs that forms an area of calm water where coral reefs and mangroves dominate the scenery. The white sands of the beach, with coconut trees lining the shoreline and crystal clear seas are pitted against the dark waters of the Formoso River, it's a scene of true natural beauty.
If you are in Porto de Galinhas, this is one of the top beaches recommended to visitors, and probably one of the most beautiful beaches along the coast of Pernambuco and perhaps even in Brazil. The beach is over one hundred kilometers from Recife, requiring a little of pre planning. If you have a car, take BR-101 south, or take one of the many buses that runs down the coast daily. The beach is a little difficult to access as it does have a ten kilometer part of unpaved road before reaching the beach. It's a highly recommened trip though.
The beach lies between Guadalupe Beach and Tamandaré Beach.
