Terreiro de Jesus
Situated in the heart of the city center and officially named the Praca XV de Novembro, the Shrine of Jesus or Terreiro de Jesus is a large and attractive public square, surrounded by many historical attractions. These include the magnificent Faculdade de Medicina Building, the Museu Afro Brasileiro or Afro Brazilian Museum, the Catedral Basilica, and four historic churches which include the Igreja da Ordem Terceira de Sao Domingos or Church of the Third Order of St. Dominic, the Igreja da Ordem Terceira de Sao Francisco or Church of the Third Order of St. Francis, Igreja de São Pedro dos Clérigos or St. Peter's Church of the Clerics and Terreiro Abriga o Convento ea Igreja do Sao Francisco or Convent and Church of St. Francis.
The plaza is always busy, filled with a mixture of street vendors, tourists and locals. The area is an important setting for various religious events. There is no cost to come here, and it's open daily. To find the Terreiro de Jesus, look between the Praca de Sé and the Largo do Pedro Arcanjo.
