The MuBE - Brazilian Sculpture Museum is a private institution of public interest, created to promote art in its various segments, sculpture, painting, photography, graffiti, drawing, music, cinema. Located in Sao Paulo, home to an extensive schedule, with special attention to the sculptural production in Brazil.

 

The museum receives annually from 80 to 100 thousand people to see its collection, visit its exhibitions, participate in educational activities, or explore the architecture of the building.

 

MuBE  programming is extensive and diverse. The exhibits present the current production of internationally recognized artists, and open space for disclosure of names of new national art scene. Besides them, the museum also offers visitors a choice of education and culture, including courses, seminars, lectures, concerts, flea market, food, plays, movies and videos. The MuBE was created in 1995 in an area of ​​7,000 square meters in the Jardins district of São Paulo. Its headquarters is one of the most significant buildings designed by architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha.

 

Erected in exposed concrete below street level, the building has silence as part of the environment. A garden designed by Burle Marx complements the space, and it is one of the attractions of the institution. The museum has three indoor exhibit: the Great Hall, the Art Gallery Hall and Burle Marx Room. In Pedro Piva Auditorium with capacity for 192 people, the presentations of music, theater, film and multimedia. A large outdoor space, the museum's restaurant and a gift shop, complete the visitation area.

 

The MuBE was created from an innovative proposal: to be a museum without permanent collection. Nevertheless, during its existence has received a significant number of sculptures. These works are displayed in their indoor and outdoor spaces. Among these creations Arcangelo Ianelli, Francisco Brennand, Ivald Granato, Nathalie Decoster, João Carlos Galvão, Sonia Ebling, Caciporé Torres, Ktcho, Yutaka Toyota, Marco Lodola, Roberto Lerner, Waldomiro de Deus and Victor Brecheret.

 

 

The museum holds around 15 exhibitions each year, all with free admission. The institution offers mediated visits for children, students and groups of seniors. During the visits, educators adopt creative and pedagogical approaches, according to a perspective of educational activities and social inclusion.

 

The MuBE also conducts other educational activities. An active schedule of courses and workshops present topics such as sculpture, painting, drawing, ceramics, art history and philosophy, for various age groups. It also promotes events that expand the presence of the institution in the city's cultural scene. In its schedule, you can find music, theater and cinema, as well as academic meetings, seminars and lectures.

 

The museum also promotes special events annually as the "Festival Cine MuBE - Independent Showcase," and the festival of graffiti art "Fine Art Graffiti." Among its initiatives, also brings together projects which aims to extend the museum beyond its territorial limits. In the "Virtual MuBE," a comprehensive database on the Brazilian production of sculpture is maintained and available for free consultation via the Internet. "TeiaMuBE" gives way to propose new dialogical relations with the city of São Paulo, through collaborative projects of urban intervention. In these and other projects, the museum also conducts activities aimed at promoting environmental responsibility. All are maintained by the institution and have the support of partners, that united to MuBE, contribute decisively to the dissemination of art and culture in the country.
