In Brazil Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May, and is considered a very important date. It is the second most important gifting holiday, on which over half of all gifters purchase a gift. That puts Mother's Day right behind Christmas in gifting popularity.

Weeks before Mother's Day advertisements on television, newspapers and radio stations enhance products in special offers and promotions for their children buy. It is common to find the shopping malls crowded city on the eve of this date, parents and children running around and looking for gifts to give to their mothers, wives and in-laws.

Advertisements and advertising each year renew the diverse products that are purchased and offered as gifts for the distinguished Brazilian mothers. From appliances, which are much in demand, up to that long awaited trip. Web sites also invest in the date, and many of them open sales, promotions and benefits, with certain deadlines, without shipping and the convenience of receiving the gift at home.

Mother's Day is usually celebrated with family, a generous lunch and many gifts.

In addition to the family celebrations, Mother´s day is also celebrated in many schools which begin to prepare for parties, exhibitions, presentations on the topic, play fun for the day and souvenirs to the mothers. Mother's Day being celebrated on Sunday, some schools prepare children for the feast of mothers in school, usually on the school day preceding the Sunday.
