Historico Abilio Barreto Museum

Inaugurated on February 18, 1943 under the name History Museum in Belo Horizonte, when he was mayor Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira, Abilio Barreto Historic Museum, was named in honor of the historian Abilio Barreto.

The physical space of the museum is divided between two buildings and connecting them. The first is the old mansion that was the headquarters of the Pig Farm still in the old Corral Del Rey, was built by Lucius curralensis Jose Candido da Silveira around 1883.

Linking the two buildings that comprise the museum is a garden with trees and a streetcar that once circulated for Belo Horizonte.

The most recent is understood in a contemporary building designed (1994/98), by architect Alvaro Hardy, or simply Veveco along with Mariza Coelho. In this building are the pictures of the modifications made in the urban landscape of Belo Horizonte, the memorials to people who stood out in Belo Horizonte, contemporary portraits of the city including pictures of the surrounding region.
