The Free University of the Environment, Unilivre civil society is a nonprofit organization. A space for the transfer of knowledge about the environment and ecology to the population. A reference in studies of ecosystem preservation, economically sustainable.

The Unilivre was inaugurated in 1992, with the presence of oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. It was subsequently declared a "public utility" by city ordinance (1993) and State (1996).

It is stuck in Zaninelli Grove, which has 37 000 m². On site, there was a quarry operated by Zaninelli family, deactivated in 1983. The forest has dense native forest, several species of birds and a lake 8 feet deep, where there are carps.

The headquarters of Unilivre is basically a wooden tower that is part of the environment. It was built of logs of eucalyptus (beams and columns) and supplemented with Embu, lantana, cedar and glass. A spiral ramp provides access to classrooms, offices and an observatory 25m. It was designed by architect Dominic Bongestabs, who also signs the design of the Wire Opera.
