Passeio Publico
This large park in the center of Curibita has many attractions, including the first zoo in Curitiba, and an aquarium. The park has 70 thousand square meters of native forest, along with a lake with islands, a grotto, a suspension bridge, and a floating stage. The gate is a copy of one found in the Paris Dog's Cemetery. While the zoo is limited to small animals, it's still nice to visit and walk around the entire park.
This botanical garden was inaugurated on May 2nd 1886 by the President of Parana Province Alfredo d'Escragnolle Taunay and was the first public park in Curitiba. Lighting was originally done with lanterns powered by fish oil.
Right next to the park, is the Arab Memorial that is within the Gibran Khalil Gibran Square. The memorial is nicely done with columns, arches and stained glass windows.
Within a 5 minute walking distance from the park, there are several museums available which shouldn't be missed. The Photography Museum of the City of Curitiba houses many collections from both local and foreign photographers. The Alfredo Andersen Museum pays tribute to one of the first artists to encourage arts education within the state and this museums preserves much of his work.
