The Christmas spirit invades the streets of Florianópolis. Christmas pictures are of all types that grace the city's main thoroughfares. Figures light poles are installed on the main routes from all parts of the capital of Santa Catarina. The decorations are the Avenida Beira-Mar Norte, Rua Felipe Schmidt porches, around the Praça XV de Novembro, Vidal Ramos Street, Praça do Laguinho (Pond Square) , near the entrance of the city,  Parque de Coqueiros,, Lagoa da Conceição, Morro das Pedras, Ingleses and Canasvieiras.

The Christmas Lights, as it is called, is one of the largest in history, according to the Department of Tourism. The city of Florianópolis prepares the Christmas Lights, with choirs, events, theaters and lots of fun. Christmas lighting has over 5 million micro lamps at Largo da Catedral.  In XV de Novembro Suqare is installed a Natural Crib. 

The Costumes: The decorations of the houses come in late November / early December, but every office and shop, also decorates. It is customary to have meetings end-of-year that promote the Hide and Seek (or Secret) where each participant picks one and buy you a present only revealing his name at the time of delivery, usually by means of tips for the person withdraws.

The night of April 24 is moved, the custom of the midnight mass still exists in most families, especially in small and medium-sized cities, more religious in nature. The cribs are part of the decoration and distinguishes the religious families. The dinner is usually the highlight of the evening always rich in possessions of the family, always an opportunity to meet and toast to love. The most famous dishes are Peru, french toast, cake Christmas, roasted chestnuts, various fruits, nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, raisins and fruit.Some say that eating dates at Christmas brings good luck. Grapes are the fruit most served. They open the presents after dinner and the party continues with many gifts and Christmas greeting. The next morning is to prepare for lunch. Many families leave the dinner served all day.
