Schooner Ride to the Dolphin Bay

Baía dos Golfinhos is a bay of calm waters which is home to about 80 dolphins that live there and provide a real show that fascinates children and adults. Another spectacle is the landscape, with the Hercilio Luz Bridge in the background to the south and the beaches of Daniela, Jurerê and Canasvieiras north of Florianópolis. A very nice ride for the whole family.

Sightseeing from the piers of Beira Mar Norte and Canasvieiras. En route, there is a climate of great contrasts, like the ancient and the modern nature harmonizing with each other, the beauties that surround paradise across the coastline of Florianópolis, the strongholds of the XVIII century, the dolphins jumping in Dolphin Bay, and the small islands that enchant for its clear and tranquil waters.

The tour: from Canasvieiras Beach: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:30 am from the pier of Canasvieiras  on the right side on the beach. During the winter, the rides are scheduled by prior appointment.


Basic Directions: coasting the shores of Jurerê Beach, Forte Beach, Daniela, circling the Anhatomirim Island (stopping to visit the Fortress, built in the XVIII century) towards Hell's Mouth (Boca do Inferno) and the Dolphin Bay (Baía dos Golfinhos) (another stop to take photos and  filming). Outline of the Bay of Armacao da Piedade, in the city of Governador Celso Ramos (stop for bathing on beaches), passing by the French's Island (bathing on the beaches) and return to Canasvieiras. Lunch is done in different locations, depending on the preference of the operator of the schooner.

Average duration of tour: 5 hours, although some operators make up the course in 7 hours.

Distance traveled: around  22 km


Departure from the center of Florianópolis, from 10.30 am, at the pier of the North Bay, opposite Scuna bar and restaurant and from the Beira Mar Pier. During the winter, the rides are scheduled with prior appointment.

 

Basic Directions: coasting along the North Bay, stopping in Ratones Island to visit the Fortress of St. Anthony (the third vertex of a triangular system of defense, formed also by Santa Cruz de Anhatomirim and São José da Ponta Grossa Fortresses). Then stop in for lunch in Anhatomirim Island (in some cases), and visit the XVIII century Fortress At Dolphin Bay, stop for photos and footage and return to the center of Florianópolis.
Return: between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm.


Other options for Tours: Some carriers also offer other options for tours, such as water sports at the Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve and in the localities of Bombas and Bombinhas with departure from Canasvieiras.  (Vento Sul Operator ).


The ride costs between R$ 35.00 and R$ 40.00 per person and reservations can be made by telephone or in their own counter, installed in front of the piers.
