Parque Nacional das Emas
The Emas National Park is located in the southwest of Goiás State, Brazil. The park was started by President Juscelino Kubitschek of the Republic, by Decree 49874 of 11 January 1961, later revised by Decree 70375 of 6 April 1972. Its area covers 132,000 hectares, distributed by the municipalities of Miners, Plain of Heaven, and part of Costa Rica (Mato Grosso do Sul). The park preserves the various sources of rivers and Jacuba Formoso Parnaíba river tributaries, the Paraná river basin. The park can be done by Serranópolis for Plain of Heaven, or Miners. It is administered by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio). The region of UC is characterized by tropical climate, which is included almost the entire Midwest Region, with a warm climate, ranging from humid to semi-arid, with up to five months of drought. According to Köppen classification, the region falls within the AW type, characteristic of tropical moist climates, with two well defined seasons: dry winter and humid in summer. The annual rainfall varies between 1,200 and 3,000 mm, and length of dry period, between 5 and 6 months. The total annual rainfall varies from 2,000 to 3,000 mm in the north of Mato Grosso, falling to West and South, where this value reaches levels around 1,500 mm in the west of Goias and 1,250 mm in the Pantanal. Although this inequality in the region is well endowed with rainfall. Seasonality is typically tropical, with maximum summer and minimum in winter. Over 70% of the total rainfall accumulated during the year falls from November to March. In winter, the rains are very rare, having at least one month too dry. To the south and northeast of Mato Grosso, July is the driest month. As we move into the interior the dry season increases, reaching up to four months. The northwest and south of Goiás drought is four months, while the northeast rises to five months.
