Jefferson Péres Park in Manaus
Named after one of the biggest politicians who have had the Amazon, the park occupies a vast area from downtown Manaus. Y-shaped, thanks to the meeting together of two streams that flow into the Rio Negro, the space was designed to be a tribute to the Belle Epoque of Manaus. The park has several details that refer to this epoch. The imposing entrance porch, an iron structure over 10 feet tall, has drawings that resemble the flags of (still declining) Market Adolpho Lisboa, while the floor in this part of the park is the same present in the Largo de São Sebastião representing the Meeting of the Waters. Figures metal around the park depicting various symbols of the height of the boom in Manaus, as trams and dating couples dressed in character. The Park also has an orchid house, playgrounds for children and two snack bars that weekend, become very pleasant thanks to the presence of solo flute and / or sax that have free on site, from 19h. Another highlight is the Fountain of Chimeras, a beautiful historic building that was restored and installed at the point where two streams meet. It is worthwhile to read over the information board that sits in front of the fountain, which tells the odyssey undergone by the monument since its inauguration, more than 100 years, until today. Thanks to its extensive trails, connected by bridges over the creeks, the park is well used by locals during the day and night as a space for walking and exercise. The environment could not be better. http://descobrindooamazonas.webs.com/parquejffersonpres.htm
