Amazon River Cruise near Manacapuru

The city ​​of Manacapuru originated from a village of Mura Indians, founded in 1786, soon after the pacification of the Indians. In 1865 the Parish of Our Lady of Nazareth of Manacapuru was established. In 1894, Manacapuru was considered a village and the municipality was created, and was separated from Manaus. The name "Manacapuru"means "filled with flowers" in the language of mura, but the city became known as "Princess of the Solimões."

One of the attractions is the Reserve of Lago da Piranha, a region that has typical lowland vegetation, with gigantic trees, called the Samaumeira. The site is also one of the best for sport fishing. The variety of fish included Bodo, the piranha and arowana. You can have lunch at a floating hotel that includes activities such as bird watching, canoe trips through the lakes and a photographic tour of the Environmental Protection Areas Paru-Lakes and Lake Calado Miriti. Manacapuru is also home for the Cirandas Folk Festival, which is a representation of the dispute between the guilds Variegated Flower, Warriors Mura and theTraditional Red and White.

The Centers Tourist Service (CAT) and the River Terminal rental (TFT) act as information centers and services to visitors, with bilingual attendants that provide information about domestic and international flights, ground transportation companies, travel agencies, hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and tourist spots, and general information about the city.
