Tabatinga Beach in Natal

The beach is surrounded by reefs that keep large waves out, and which form natural swimming pools during low tides.  It's open ocean but still good for bathing and swimming due to the reefs.  Towards the end of the afternoon, dolphins come in close to the coast to catch fish and to interact with tourists.

From the top of the Mirante dos Golfinhos, there is a beautiful view of Búzios Beach.  In Mirante, there are many good restaurants, and other public buildings to visit.   From the city it is also possible to observe the Rendeiras making their bilros, or local handicrafts on the porches of their houses.  Also in the area is the Arituba Lagoon, which offers up beaches along it's shoreline, without the waves that the beaches have.

The beach is south of Natal, and is part of the city of Nísia Floresta, and is roughly 50 km from downtown Natal.   While in the area, don't forget to visit Maior Cajueiro do Mundo, the worlds largest cashnew nut tree.
