Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes Celebrations
This is most important religious feast of Rio Grande do Sul is held in Porto Alegre on Feb. 2, when the image of Our Lady of Navigators is transported from the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, in the city center to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Navigators. More than 100 000 people participate each year in the procession by land and water (in dozens of boats that make the journey across the lake Guaíba).
