These beaches are all part of the same bay and have been grouped together, since visiting one, often means visiting all of them.   Brazil is known for all of it's beaches and Recife has plenty to choose from.   There are several restaurants, bars and inns around this area, making it possible to spend the entire day here without having to bring food and drinks.  The possibility of spending several days here is made possible by the multiple inns. 

Nearby, the river Sirinhaém pours into the Ocean,  which makes it possible to visit the river and spend time around the mouth of the river where the waters meet the ocean.   Guaiamum Beach is in the middle of this bay, and is one of three beaches which you will find here.   Barra de Sirinhaém Beach is the second beach found here, and on the other side of Guaiamum Beach is Gamela Beach, which is also a seaside resort.  Guaiamum is actually deserted for most of the year, but is wide open and nice for walking along.  Where the river meets the ocean, the waters are dark, being influced by the Rio Sirinhaém, but slight further out, the sea forms a beautiful blue backdrop.

In contrast, Gamela Beach is in a cove of warm waters with strong waves, surrounded by many vacation homes, and with a good number of bars and inns for those visiting the area.    The beach is quiet and slow-moving, and also known by some as "A-Ver-o-Mar", named after a local community.  The beach has a wall of white sand, lots of palm trees and sparse undergrowth.

Just north of Gamela Beach, it is possible to spot Barra de Sirinhaém Beach which has a beautiful island just off the coast, called Santo Aleixo Island.  To the south of Gamela Beach is  Guadalupe, which is the last beach in the Sirinhaém destination.   This beach is ideal for those seeking peace and tranquility, a day out, or a place to just stroll along the long white sandy beaches which cover the entire area.

There are several transportation options available to those in the area, including boats, rafts and catamarans.  The beach is nearly 80km from Recife, making it a fairly remote beach and fairly far from the inner city beaches.   The city of Tamandaré is only 45 km from this beach and reached via BR-101 South, PE-60, PE-61.
