Porto de Galinhas Beach in Recife

Several Brazilian travel magazines have elected Porto de Galinhas as the most beautiful beach in Brazil, which isn't surprising.  About 18 km long, with very low waves and very shallow waters this beach is excellent for almost all water sports, including snorkeling, bathing, swimming, and scuba diving.   Tour boats take people out to visit the natural pools that form a few hundred meters from the shoreline during low tide.  Buggies offer up tours to neighboring beaches, including Cupe Beach and Maracaípe Beach which are on either end of Porto de Galinhas.

Besides the beach, there is a village aptly called Porto de Galinhas. Not surprisingly, the village has suffered from some growing pains due to the huge influx of tourism, but new hotels, restaurants and services are appearing everyday.   Nightlife, with discos and clubs is very busy during the weekends and holidays.   Either of these places is fantastic, but combine them together and they're an over the top tropical paradise.

Porto de Galinhas is a basis for many tour operators, and many boat tours start from this city.   They often take tourists out to the natural pools formed by the coral reefs and for scenic tours up and down the coast.   Many buggy tours also start from here, taking visitors to nearby beaches up and down the coast.   Access to this area is via BR-101 Sul, PE-60 and PE-09.
