Cabo Frio in Rio de Janeiro

Main tourist hub of the Lakes Region, Cabo Frio has lush beaches and dunes of fine white sand reflecting the sun during the day and the moon at dusk, offering unforgettable moments, and exceptional conditions for resting, relaxing, and contemplating nature. Cabo Frio has in its coastline beaches and crystal blue waters with very fine white sand. The beaches allow the practice of various sports such as sailing, surfing, windsurfing, jet skiing, kayaking, sailing, among others. The waves are great for surfing, and the exuberance of its marine flora and fauna provide a breathtaking diving experience.

Cabo Frio offers all kinds of options during the day, such as lying down on its beaches, banana boat rides, jet skiing, boating, kayaking, surfing, walking and cycling along the shore. At night, the town buzzes with  bars, clubs, kiosks, shows, electric trios.

Somewhat overshadowed by the glamor and the fame of Buzios Arraial do Cabo as a destination for diving, the city of Cabo Frio (RJ) went almost unnoticed for some time by Brazilian divers. Cabo Frio is a wonderful city of six islands extending off the coast, with more than 30 dive sites. Visibility can exceed 30 meters and temperatures can be 25 Celsius one day,  and the next day, a drop of 10 meters in visibility and 12 Celsius in temperature. All this happens because  of the famous upswelling - a cold stream of water that explains the city's name (Cold Cape). One major advantage of Cabo Frio is the proximity of the dive sites.

Meet some dive sites:

Ilha Comprida - North Face: There are big holes and a high incidence of open-water fish, including barracudas. It is recommended to do the night dive.

Ilha Comprida - Inside Slab: It has a long strip of fine sand to 10 feet. You can observe small nurse sharks resting. Near the southern tip, a large rock formation serves as a shelter for many eels. Excellent location for underwater photography.

Ilha Comprida: The entrance is protected from the northeast and east winds. The rock formation with a strip of sand in the center provides shelter for the rays, turtles, lobsters and various fish species.

Ilha Dois Irmaos: Little visited, the island offers a rich and unique wildlife. On the western side, the wind current allows good dives.

Ilha do Papagaio: It is one of the most visited by dive operators. Extremely rich in marine biodiversity, with lots of octopus, stingrays, coral reefs and tropical fish. The sea is always calm, ideal for beginners. Do not miss the diving point that divides the second and third downs: a rock formation rising to 21 meters of pretty small cave entrances and, in its shallowest part - a small cathedral. In the third entry, passages in a wall that drops to 28 meters.

Carolina: Carolina is near the mouth of the channel Araruama, where the boats leave. A good place for macro photography and night diving.
