Cedro Beach
Along the peninsula that is directed to Ponta Grossa, where the first lighthouse in Ubatuba is, there is the small beach 'Praia do Cedro'. As fleeing from civilization, it is close to the city but out of sight of whoever goes by the huge Ubatuba bay. Thick vegetation, clear waters and white sand that cozies up the landscape almost always surprises us! This paradise beach is quiet, almost deserted. However, what appears to be unknown to civilization is an extremely busy place in high season and holidays. Besides humans, Praia do Cedro is also frequented by small squirrels, but the biggest attraction is when the sea turtles come to shore, and one can also see dolphins and sometimes even whales at some times of the year. Its waters host ornamental fish, sea horses, anemones, starfish and many other creatures of the underwater life. The peacefulness of the place makes us feel like we're fulfilling the dream of refuge in a deserted beach, but with the comfort that only civilization offers. On site, there is a rustic bar Mr. Zeca structured with bathroom and shower, not to mention the exotic snacks, where seafood is the main meal in the menu, pleasing to the taste of foodies and exquisite seafood connoisseurs. On hot days, nothing beats a good shake, beer or even a reinvigorated coconut water to complete the scenario that is like heaven on earth ... For the amateur divers and beginners who want to know more about the silent world of the great ocean, there are basic equipments such as diving, masks, snorkels and fins available for rent. We know that cedar is a large tree without branches, with its thick bark, which is considered medicinal. Its flowers are large and whitish, with fruit-shaped woody capsule with numerous seeds. Its wood is good joinery, much used for carving and even small boats. The large amount of this rich tree, gave its name to the small beach. The air is also a picturesque account of the fishermen 'caiçaras', who have been established there for many years. It is through them that we learn the secrets of a good marine harvest. Through a good chat, we can figure out how to cultivate their ancient sieges and proudly bring the fish to their food, they sell the same at the beach and sometimes in local trade. It is also possible to learn about some experiences on how to survive at sea, which sometimes proves treacherous. We found stories and stories, many times funny, and even some tall tales! To get to the beach it is necessary to enter the condo Tenório Beach, past Vermelha Beach donwtown, Ponta Grossa bound. Shortly before the start of cobblestone pavement there is a small 'picada' on its left. It is from this moment that all your troubles are left behind and at each step, the little trail that runs along the path is covered with native trees, forming a gate, which seems to take you to a dream, that instantly comes true. Another option is to go sailing through schooners, boats or jet skis that dock along the Itaguá beach. The itineraries offer one hour and forty minutes schedules at Cedar Beach. But if you plan to stay indefinitely the tip is chartering the vessel.
