Aldeia do Papai Noel
The Santa Claus Christmas Village is the only Santa Claus park in Brazil and the official address of the good old man in South America. It is located at the Knorr Park. The park, created in 1940 by Oscar Knorr, has stunning views along the Quilombo valley, and with all the attractions of the Village, it is one of the main sights of Gramado.
A 700m2 pavilion houses the Toy Factory, with electronic toys, a giant bear, the first machine to make Christmas balls from Brazil, a gazebo for the Quilombo Valley and a cafeteria. The Park also has the beautiful Christmas Pyramid, the Toy Museum, the Chalet of the Bears (moving bears), Carousel, Snow Square (with artificial snow that is the delight of tourists), Fountain in the main lawn, Bandstand, crib toys with electronics, Oratory House in Miniatures, the Santa Claus garage and a train that runs through all paths of the park for the convenience of the visitors.
The Santa Claus House is the first and best known house in the Bavarian style of the region. Built in 1940, it is adorned with European carvings and frescoes by an Italian painter. This house is considered a heritage of the region, with all the original paintings restored. All rooms are decorated with Christmas themes: dining room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen (where children leave their pacifiers to Santa Claus), correspondence and office room of stuffed animals.
Reindeer
Since 2006, they inhabit a special place in the Village, with two thousand square meter amidst centennial German pines. Their species is prime deer and they weigh about 300 kilos, aged between five and eight years. The antlers fall off every year and growth has been perfect, which is determined by its excellent state of health. Animals have veterinary monitoring weekly and are under constant supervision of IBAMA and other government agencies.
